Summer Vacation

Well, my kids are officially out of school for the summer! We decided to not send the kids to summer camps this year.

It has been nice to have my son in preschool five mornings a week and my daughter in preschool two mornings a week. Those two mornings when they were both in preschool were wonderful.

I was able to go grocery shopping by myself, go to Doctor and Dentist appointments and come home and clean. I can’t believe how quickly I was able to clean the house when the kids were not there!

The Advantages Of Summer Vacation

I am looking forward and dreading this summer at the same time. I am looking forward to sleeping in and not rushing around in the morning.

My son and daughter will both be able to go into the play area at the gym together. It will be nice to join the reading program at our library with the kids and take them to the parks and pool.

Also, we will be saving a lot of money on gas and tuition. Our preschool is 15 minutes away on a good day.

The Disadvantages Of Summer Vacation

I am not looking forward to grocery shopping with kids, Doctor’s appointments with kids and non-stop parenting.

I see that a lot of the parents around me are signing their kids up for summer preschool or summer camps and I feel like one of the minority since I am giving them a summer vacation from school.

I did sign them up for a couple summer programs like Tae Kwon Do and Ballet. I hope things will go well this summer vacation!

What We Did During Summer Vacation

We got into a routine by the halfway point of summer vacation. We went to the library each week and spent about an hour there picking out books, playing with other kids and attending library programs.

We also went to the gym a lot. Luckily, our gym has an awesome children’s center. They let the kids stay for 2 hours each day. I was able to take a fitness class or workout on my own, take a shower and get ready for the day before picking them up.

They would be worn out from playing with all of the other kids on the big indoor playground. An extra perk was that the whole place was air conditioned. It gets so hot in Virginia (or anywhere for that matter) in the summer and it is nice to find a cheap place to play and have fun.

We did have a family member visit for 3 weeks. During that time, the kids went to the museums in Washington D.C., visited the Appalachian mountains, tour an underground cavern and explore our area like a tourist would.

Luckily, our neighborhood has a family friendly swimming pool where all of the stay at home Moms and kids can cool off and have a good time. It’s not far from our house. We were there so often that my kids are like little fish now! My 6 year old son was even on the swim team for our neighborhood!

We did make a few family trips out to visit with family in other parts of the country. Without summer vacation, we would not have been able to do half of what we ended up doing.

I was happy when school started up again. We were starting to run out of things to do and the kids need more structure than I gave them during summer vacation. They were happy to see their friends when school started up again.

Next year, I will have to plan my summer vacation the same way. We did not fill up our schedules each day. We just relaxed, explored and visited family. That is what summer is all about!

How to Handle a Lonely Summer Vacation

Looking ahead to a lonely summer? There are plenty of activities to fill your time.

Dealing with Summer Vacation Loneliness

While you’re in school, from kindergarten to college, you wait from August till May for those three months of summer vacation, sure they’ll be filled with fun, adventure, and memory-making. As you got older though, and especially once you go to college, your summer vacations may become less thrilling–your friends travel or go to another parent’s house, and you’re left at home alone.

If you’re feeling lonely and bored, the three months of summer vacation can stretch into what feels like an eternity, with one day the same as the next.

A summer vacation that starts out with loneliness doesn’t have to stay that way, however–if you’re a little proactive, you can fill your time with enjoyable and productive activities that make the months fun and fight your feelings of solitude.
Benefits of Volunteering
Choosing Volunteer Activities

If you’re stuck in the summer doldrums, vegging out in front of the TV and wondering if everyone’s having more fun than you, then it’s time to get out of yourself! Choosing a volunteer position lets you give back to your community while filling your free time in a positive way.

Think about something you love doing and find a volunteer activity to align with your interests–while volunteering can be a chore if you’re not passionate about the activity, if you choose one that aligns with what you love it can be an amazing experience. For instance, if you love reading consider volunteering at a literacy center; if you love animals, volunteer at an animal shelter; and if you love children, volunteer at a local camp. The options are endless!

Volunteering will also introduce you to many people beyond your social circle, and those new friendships will make your summer less lonely.
Getting a part-time summer job is a great way to make extra cash and show commitment and hard work, whether you’re interning or making burgers.

Finding a Job

Another way to beat summer loneliness is to get a part-time job–not only will you be filling your time, you’ll be earning some extra cash and building your resume.

Look for internships or jobs that fit some interest you have, or take a job that will teach you something new. Even if it’s a retail position, colleges and future employers like to see that you can juggle responsibilities, work hard, and show commitment.

And just like with volunteering, getting a job is also a great way to meet new people and reduce the feelings of loneliness you might have when your friends are out of town or otherwise busy in the summer.

Exercising or Engaging in a Hobby

If you’re a work-hard, play-hard student and need the summer to decompress, then a job or a volunteer position might not be for you. However, you’ll still have those lonely summer hours to fill up. Instead of moping in your room, get out and get some exercise or find a hobby you love.

If you’d like to get in better shape, the summer is the perfect time to stick to an exercise and healthy-eating schedule. So, make a plan and get started! You’ll soon find yourself looking forward to your workouts and the accomplished feeling you get from pushing yourself a little harder each time.

Hobbies are also a great way to pass time–working on old cars, joining a soccer or tennis team, scrapbooking, cooking–cultivate a skill you enjoy and spend the summer becoming better at it. You’ll enjoy yourself while passing time and feeling less lonely. And as an added bonus, if your hobby includes being social, like a team sport, you’ll make friends, as well.
Taking a community college course can not only give you transferable credits, but also help you beat the lonely summer days.

Taking Community College Classes

One other option to try to pass the long summer days is to sign up for community college classes. If you’re in high school, many of the credits (especially those in basic subjects) will transfer to your future college, meaning you’re getting a head start on higher education. If you’re in college, the credits may transfer as well–get a hard math class or science class out of the way so you don’t have to struggle with it when you’re taking many other classes at once during the regular school year.

You could also use community college classes to explore a potential major or develop a skill–and being in the social setting, learning with others, will reduce your loneliness.
Summer Doesn’t Have to Be Lonely

Being alone during the summer doesn’t mean you have to be lonely! Volunteering, getting a job, throwing yourself into a hobby, or taking a community college course are all great ways to handle a lonely summer vacation.

Finding A Cheap Cruise In Summer Time

It’s less than one month away before many kids and students will be out of school for the 2006 summer season, and if you don’t know exactly where to take your family this year for vacation, consider taking a cheap cruise holiday!

With gas prices going through the roof, many families may be reconsidering their vacation plans, and when you have been budgeting for your family trip, taking a cruise may be your best value for your buck.

Holidays are something we all look forward to, whether they’re for winter or summer, and when you finally have the time to take the entire family on a holiday, you want to have the best overall experience.

Finding A Cheap Holiday Is Easy If You Change Your Holiday!

Consider getting away from the traditional vehicle trip to the Theme Parks, or traditional annual camping trip! If you’re looking to do something different this year, and you live in a cruise port city that offers many exciting cruises on select cruise ships to the Caribbean or Mexico, you may be pleasantly surprised on the cruise prices and the incredible discounts they offer for the summer season.

You and your family can enjoy an inclusive cruising experience and voyage to many exotic islands, Mexican historical cities and more! Even though this is your vacation, it can also be an educational experience for the children and you as well.

For The Price of A Road Trip You Can Easily Cruise In Exotic Vacation Style!

Many cruise lines like Carnival, Norwegian, and Royal Caribbean offer deep summer discounts to the Caribbean and Mexican destinations, and with summer being their low season, families can take advantage of these savings. With that in mind, families and individuals that live near a cruise port, virtually everything is covered in your cruise package, such as your accommodations, most if not all meals and beverages, and fantastic daily and nightly entertainment.

For families that don’t live in a city with access to a cruise port, summer deals from cruise companies usually provide extremely low airfare cruise packages, that can easily cost less than your Theme Park family vacation!

If you don’t believe me, consider the fact that once you get to the Theme Parks of your choice, you have to think about your vehicle transportation to and from your hotel if you are far from the park property, plus all your meals, beverages, and entertainment costs for the entire family. These expenses can add up very quickly, and in most cases are very difficult to budget for on vacation, because the saying goes, “when you’re on vacation, you normally spend more than you budget for in the beginning.”

With summer cruising, you arrive on the ship, your bags are taken directly to your room by the ship’s courteous staff, and all you have to do is get ready to hit the cruise ship’s spectacular buffet prior to leaving your port to the first exciting destination on your cruising itinerary.

If You Think The Kids Will Be Bored While Cruising, Think Again!

Even though cruise destinations are the highlight of any cruising vacation, many families and individuals love to take cruises because of all the fun activities they offer, and while on board your ship, you and your children will have no problem finding things to do.

Cruise ships provide some of the best entertainment and kids services in the vacation market, and they cater to everyone including adults and your children alike! While you’re dreaming about the first exotic beach you will be arriving on shortly, the cruise ship has exciting and fun things to do that range from a variety of kids activities, outdoor sports competitions, to a variety of theme parties for all ages.

As your children are completely occupied, you can relax by the pool, or take in the many daily features such as Bingo, Casino, and even a therapeutic massage in their spa. When you start to miss the kids, all of you can meet to take in a fabulous lunch buffet and get re-fuelled for the rest of the day’s events that you can choose to take part in or not.

Remember this, when you plan your summer vacation you can truly have a family experience to remember when selecting a cruise vacation, and with the savings you will experience, you and your family won’t be talking this year about the hot dog that fell off the grill, or the fish that got away again. This summer you will be discussing how exciting it was to see the Mexican Mayan Ruins and all the other fabulous places, how delicious the gourmet cheesecake was for desert, and your family will be laughing all day about dad winning the belly flop contest at the ship’s poolside this year!

Vacation Tips: Beating The Summer Heat

If you have packed your suitcases and are ready to take off for your summer vacation, consider vacationing on a sunny beach. Although it is a great idea, many are absolutely clueless about how to plan for all the necessities that are to be carried along to enjoy a beach holiday. Given below are a few tips that will make the job easier.

Summer is the all-time favorite tourist season and hence, you should make sure that you have made hotel reservations in advance. In fact some of the destinations are so popular for summer holidays that they are overbooked months before summer arrives. Also, advance reservations will get you better rates.

The second and one of the most important points to keep in mind is, always make it a point to set a budget. It is always better to carry traveler’s checks rather than cash, as they can be replaced. Or, if you are not used to handling and traveling with traveler’s checks, you could consider using credit cards. Most reputed resorts accept cards and you will also have the records of every transaction.

You should also make sure that the kids are being properly taken care of. People who have kids often spend the most part of their vacation time chasing their kids around. Therefore, make sure that if the children are traveling with you, the resort has adequate play area and a day care center. Many resorts also have separate activities planned for kids.

You should check out the nightlife possible too, if you are an extrovert. Some of the best nightclubs are in Key West (favorite of Ernest Hemingway), Miami (home of Gloria Estefan), Honolulu and San Diego.

You could consider vacation destinations with comedy clubs close at hand. There is nothing better than winding up a leisure day with a hearty laugh, if you enjoy slap-stick comedy and magic shows.

You should also consider destinations where you could pursue water sports in summer. You could go snorkeling, scuba diving or just plain swimming if you love the water. You could indulge in hand gliding or parasailing if you are adventurous. Many locations also offer deep-sea fishing. In Florida you can attempt fishing in inland lakes for the Trophy Bass.

Another important point to consider is to attempt learning the local language of the place you intend to visit or, visit a place where English is widely spoken. Jamaica, Puerto Rico, US Virgin Islands, Bermuda, Tahiti and the Dominican Republic are just some of the attractive vacation options.

You should make sure that the transportation facilities in and out of the chosen holiday destination are efficient and flexible.

Shopping is one activity without which, no vacation can be complete. Hence, you should make sure that the vacation spot has adequate shopping facilities.

And finally, indulge in a holiday to a destination of your dreams. Trying out new locations and venturing further, adds to the thrill and adventure that can make the holiday a truly memorable one. You should not forget to carry your camera to capture all the sweet memories of the vacation.

Plan An Affordable And Problem Free Summer Vacation

Every year literally millions of singles, couples, families and groups of friends go on summer vacations together. Summer vacations are popular, and it’s that popularity that can make planning and booking one a challenge, especially for families and groups of people. The demand for seats on airplanes are limited by demand, as are available accommodations. The demand to attend events or visit tourist attractions can also be affected by the higher demand summer vacationers pose.

There are a number of ways that you can make affordable bookings and reservations.

Obviously the first step to making summer vacation reservations is deciding on a summer vacation destination. When selecting a summer vacation destination, a number of factors need to be taken into consideration. Some of these factors are;

Are you going to be traveling with children and, if so, what are the ages of your children? Not every accommodation provider accepts infants, or even small children. This is especially the case with bed and breakfast operations or guest houses. Not every destination is suitable for children either. Some destinations are focused on honeymooners and couples seeking a place to go for a romantic getaway. While others target young adults seeking adventure or exciting nightlife. Destination catering mainly to adult vacationers offer little in the way of amusements for children.

Costs of airfare and accommodation are generally fixed, but services and amenities are often forgotten until vacationers are in country and being confronted with costly meals, beverages, admittance fees to visit museums, historical sites or other places of interest, souvenirs, and so on. Incidental costs can add up to a significant amount. If you have an overall summer vacation budget you need to stay within, these costs prove a problem.

Do you, or anyone traveling with you have food or other allergies to take into consideration? For example, if you or someone traveling with you is allergic to bee stings, areas famous for flowering gardens isn’t the safest choice for a summer vacation destination.

Do you, or anyone you’ll be traveling with have medical issues that could be exasperated by environmental factors, such as dry air, humidity, dust, elevation, and so on. This writer once worked with a tour operator that allowed an obese man with a heart condition to book himself onto a Nepal tour. He got off the plane, which was not disembarking passengers at a gate, but rather on the tarmac almost 100 meters from the terminal entrance. This is a common practice in many places, and especially at smaller airports. In such cases, passengers are expected to walk to the terminal to collect baggage and clear customs and immigration. The obese man collapsed halfway to the terminal and died shortly thereafter. The elevation, combined with his obesity and existing heart condition was a recipe for disaster, and it came to be.

Do you, or anyone you travel with have mobility issues, such as needing a walking aid or requires a wheel chair? If so, consider the width and surface conditions of sidewalks, accessibility to accommodations for anyone mobily challenged, and pedestrian congestion. You must take into account that mansions and heritage buildings that have been converted to hotels or bed and breakfast accommodations are not likely to have elevators. Many historic sections of European cities are paved with cobble stones, while sidewalks can be very narrow or non-existent. Both make navigation difficult for anyone with a mobility problem. For anyone needing to use a cane, a walker, or who is wheelchair bound, the congestion in market squares or bazaars can be nightmarish, as can the pedestrian traffic in cities such as Hong Kong, Singapore, Tokyo, Fez, Cairo, etc.

Keeping these factors in mind will enable you to select the summer vacation destination that will best fit your needs and address any limitations you or a travel companion may have.

Once you’ve selected a summer vacation destination you can look for accommodations to book for your stay. A large number of amusement parks, campgrounds and hotels in the USA, Canada and at overseas destinations don’t require reservations. However, it’s advisable to reserve accommodations anyway. Summer vacation periods are short, and the demand is therefore much higher than normal. This can cause available rooms to be filled with vacationing tourists quickly. By making a reservation, you not only assures that you have a room, but that you have accommodations that fit your needs.

When booking a summer vacation, a great many travelers will count on the services of a travel agent. Using a travel agent is more convenient than searching online for vacation packages, calling hotels to negotiate a booking rate, or sourcing your own rental car deal. However, there are two things to remember when using a travel agent to organize you summer vacation:

A travel agent only knows what you tell him or her about your needs. If you research your own summer vacation and make your own accommodation arrangements, you’re unlikely to book yourself into a hotel that can’t cater to the kosher, vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, etc., dietary needs you or someone you’re traveling with requires. Nor would you book yourself into a room with a beautiful view from a 20th floor balcony if you suffer from Acrophobia (a fear of heights). A travel agent may do so if you did not specifically mention these or any other limitations.

Travel agents obviously don’t provide their services for free. Most are paid a percentage of the amount you’ll pay, and many add on a service fee as well. If you’re planning a summer vacation and are on a budget, you may want to book your own flight and make your own reservations. There are two reasons. Firstly, a travel agent will organize your transportation and stay based on what earns them the highest return. This may not be what provides the best service or value to you. Secondly, with very little effort, you can save the portion of a hotel reservation set aside to compensate travel agents and tour operators. Simple research the hotel rates online, then call or email and offer 30% less. It will either be accepted, but if not acceptable the hotel will respond with a quote. It will probably surprise you when you learn what the savings can be. Also, be sure to mention any mobility issues, allergies or special diets that may be relevant before you book. Discounted rooms are not usually entitled to special services without added charges, unless it’s including within the reservation package.

Aside from traveling by car, air travel is a preferred method of travel to reach summer vacation destinations. If you’re booking your own airline reservations, do so online and look for all of the alternatives to get you from point A to B. For example, a direct flight is convenient, but it can be costly if even available. Many departure to destination flights are simply not available because of the need to refuel. In cases where a direct flight is available, a flight with a stop over or two may be half the price. Likewise, for the same price as a direct flight, you can often choose to organize a tour for yourself.

When flying from Vancouver, BC, Canada to Quito, Ecuador, a peak summer season flight is just over CAD$1500 with taxes and surcharges. For the same price you can book a charter tour to Cancun, Mexico, spend a week there, accommodation included. After a week in Cancun you can take the train, a bus or fly to Mexico city. There you can stay a day or two, then fly from Mexico City to Quito, Ecuador. The cost is virtually the same, if not less, and you have an enjoyable tour. The original flight Vancouver to Quito requires at least on stop, most two. So does the alternative Vancouver, Cancun, Mexico City and on to Quito route. The difference is you have a stay in Cancun and Mexico City at no extra cost, rather than wait in an airport for your connecting flight. It takes a lot of searching to find these deals, but they are available. This is because, as the saying in the airline industry, “A plane that takes off with an empty seat lost revenue.” Airlines will do anything to fill every seat, even if that seat sale is drastically discounted.

If your summer vacation is centered on enjoying the outdoors, then you probably want to be camping. Even when planning a camping vacation, you should still make a reservation. Public and private campgrounds are limited as to the amount of camping space they have. By reserving a camping space you’re guaranteed a place to set up your tent or park your RV or trailer.

To book a popular vacation destination at a discount, check out online travel websites. Travel websites offer discounts on popular hotels, airlines and restaurants around the world. There’s a downside to using online discount travel websites though. The travel sites mostly focus on the more popular summer vacation destinations. That said, you can often find a better hotel deal that falls within your budget than you would booking elsewhere, saving nothing but enjoy far greater luxury at the same price.

There is a final, very important consideration to planning and booking your summer vacation flights and hotel reservations. Do your research and book well ahead of your intended departure. Deals on flights are rarely available under 21 days from departure, other than through last minute seat sales. The problem with last minute seat sales is that they’re limited in both availability and usually in the amount of luggage you can bring. This is because the weight luggage would take is allocated to freight, which is actually more profitable for the airlines than transporting passengers. Plus last minute means last minute. You do not want to risk your entire summer vacation on being able to secure last minute seat deals. Likewise, hotels will rarely make deals at the last minute either, unless you show up at the desk at 2:00AM and there are vacancies. Even then, the desk clerk has parameters as to the discounts he or she can give. When you start negotiating for rooms well in advance of your arrival you’re dealing with management, who generally have greater latitude when it comes to granting discounts to secure bookings.

Grey South Africa helps Volvo embark on ‘A New Beginning’

Grey was recently tasked with helping Volvo in South Africa showcase its transformation. Volvo Cars and Swedish artist and producer Avicii announced a creative collaboration to celebrate their Swedish roots with a new recording and music video, released globally on 8 May. This collaboration forms the basis of a global brand campaign entitled ‘A New Beginning’.
Grey South Africa helps Volvo embark on ‘A New Beginning’
“The Volvo Cars brand is on the ascent, just as Avicii is, with a growing global audience. We thought there would be no better way to celebrate our heritage and passion for life than to work together to produce something special that reflects who we are and what matters to us,” said Alain Visser, Senior Vice President Sales, Marketing & Customer Service at Volvo Car Group.

The song chosen for the collaboration is called Feeling Good, written by Anthony Newley and Leslie Bricusse in 1964. It’s a personal favourite of Avicii, who has produced this version. He has added new vocals, infectious beats and the catchy melodic treatment that has thrilled millions of jubilant fans at festivals and clubs around the world.

“I’ve loved the song for a long time. It’s one of the best songs ever written. It’s just timeless to me. I’ve been a big fan of Nina Simone, Etta James and that kind of sound for a very long time. So when I found out that was the song that Volvo Cars wanted in the music video I was really excited and happy to do something with it. I wanted to create something new, and at the same time stay true to the original,” said Avicii.

The beautifully shot video for Feeling Good was filmed in Stockholm and locations personal to Avicii such as Osterlen in Sweden, where he and his family spent their summer vacations. Avicii and his team had full creative sign off on the final video and created and approved the storyline together with Volvo. Inspired by this Grey South Africa set out with the task to bring Sweden to South Africa.

Grey South Africa wanted to do something different than ordinary advertising and TV commercials. We wanted to maximise awareness and create interest among people that do not necessarily think of Volvo. On the morning of 9 May, Grey South Africa hosted an event for Volvo where 15 of South Africa’s top Instagrammers were invited to join Volvo see the new dawn rising over the Johannesburg city skyline, like it’s never been seen before, from the rooftop of the Carlton Centre.

“As Grey South Africa, we wanted to provide Volvo (our client) with something that was different from the norm. We helped Volvo stand out from other brands while talking to a new generation of Volvo brand advocates” says Jessica Wheeler, Business Unit Director PR and Social Media.

The Volvo Cars brand has earned a well-deserved reputation for safety, environmental care and quality since the company was founded in 1927. In recent years, with the help of Grey South Africa, the company has begun an important brand transformation process building on these important values. The result is a fresh look at what a luxury car maker can offer its customers: a uniquely tailored car experience that actively enhances life as well as protecting it.

@LorindasWorld: Do not drink any alcohol before, during and after a long flight! Drink lots of water during your flight and try to get back into a sleeping routine immediately.
@iamleannemusic: Sleep on the plane as much as you can & drink lots of water. That way you’re well rested & hydrated once you reach your destination.
@ShashiNaidoo: I once watched a documentary which showed that the biggest aid to preventing jet lag is to not eat on the plane and that you need to eat your first meal once you have landed and that way your system adjusts.
@TumiVoster: Take a hot bubble bath and drink lots of water.

BizcommunityIf you could sit next to any celebrity on a plane, who will it be?

@LorindasWorld:Angelina Jolie or Rihanna.
@iamleannemusic: Beyoncé or Jennifer Lopez!!!! Now that would be amazing, lol! I would talk their ears of, or not cause I’d just be too starstruck!
@ShashiNaidoo: I would definitely choose Beyonce and I’d make her sing me to sleep.
@TumiVoster: Beyoncé

BizcommunityWhat do you love most about travel?

@LorindasWorld:The sense of freedom I have when discovering a new place. I love traveling alone and it always empowers me, I’ve discovered myself more during my single trips.
@iamleannemusic: Exploring new towns & cities & eating local cuisine is definitely one of my favorite things to do. I love food.
@ShashiNaidoo: I love the escapism of it all and the adventure of trying new things.
@TumiVoster: Learning about different cultures, meeting new people and of course just learning and seeing the fashion in different parts of the world and trying out the food, I’m a lover of food and fashion!!

BizcommunityWhat are your expectations from this trip to Dubai? Are you excited about anything in particular?

@LorindasWorld:I love traveling through Asia and always wanted to explore Dubai. I love the fact that it’s a 1st world country mixed with tradition and culture. Apart from the shopping, I cannot wait for our desert safari dinner and skiing at Ski Dubai.
@iamleannemusic: I’m looking forward to exploring the city, learning about the culture & performing in Dubai once again!
@ShashiNaidoo: Even though there is so much to look forward to during this trip, I am most excited about Fashion Forward because it is the ultimate fashion platform in the Middle East and it showcases some of the most exquisite fashion pieces and it drives the whole fashion industry forward within the region.
@TumiVoster: Expecting nothing but the best. I’m excited to learn more about the culture and heritage. Looking forward to attending the Fashion Forward fashion Dubai extravaganza.

BizcommunityList 2 beauty items you never travel without

@LorindasWorld:My Dermalogica Skin Hydrating Mask and my Clarins BB cream and Lotus Oil.
@iamleannemusic: Clarins Brightening Hydrating Day Lotion and Mitchum roll on. Nothing worse than bad body odor
@ShashiNaidoo: I always keep handy my Clarins Colour Quench Lip Balm and Dermalogica Skin Hydrating Booster – flights are so dehydrating and lips and skin need moisture too.
@TumiVoster: MAC lipsticks and sunscreen

BizcommunityWhat do you pack to take with on the plane when you travel long distances?

@LorindasWorld:Dermalogica Skin Hydrating Mask, Clarins face wash, Clarins BB cream and hand cream and at least 2 liters of water.
@iamleannemusic: A writing pad & pen. I usually get new song ideas at the strangest times so it’s easier if I have that close by. A good book or lots of magazines. I never get time to do any of that at home so it’s definitely a way of unwinding for me.
@ShashiNaidoo: I pack a travel pillow, Evian facial spray, a good book, a pen for filling out immigration forms and a coat for if I’m going from summer to winter.

BizcommunityAs a woman, are you afraid to travel alone?

@LorindasWorld:Not at all. I have traveled mostly alone. I am a very self-aware traveler and prefer discovering new countries on my own. It gives me a sense of freedom. No wonder my friends call me Wanderluster
@iamleannemusic: Not particularly. As long as I’ve got all the documentation that I need, make sure my travel arrangements are in order & my credit card, I’m good to go.
@ShashiNaidoo: Not at all. Coming from Johannesburg, it’s pretty much a given that it’s the most dangerous place i’ll go to.
@TumiVoster: Not a fan of traveling alone generally. Definitely want to have someone to share the entire experience with and yes it’s definitely safer.
